Your Daily Focus: Venom
There are no justified resentments. Resentment is like the venom in the snake bite. It ravages your body and does its damage long after the bite. It is not the bite that kills you, it is the venom.
The only way to achieve a higher level of consciousness and a life lived at a more peaceful and joyful emotional level is to give up the resentment. There is no way something in your past should dictate how you feel today.
Today is present energy, it is dynamic, ever changing. Every feeling you have is being created brand new in this present moment. The only way you can be stuck with the same old thought, and the same old resentments, is to masterfully re-create them in each new moment.
The key here is that you are giving away control of your life to others if you hold on to resentment. When you hold resentment, you give the controls over your emotional life to others to manipulate.
Take ownership of all of it. Acknowledge that you alone have created all of your life. All your choices, all your experiences, all your outcomes. Appreciate them all. They have all been wonderful learning experiences, and have led you to this exact moment in time. They have gifted you the opportunity to be standing in this exact moment desiring more.
And desiring more is one of the greatest feelings there is. It is the feeling of life itself.
When we hold grudges and resentments, there’s only one person we hurt—ourselves! And you are so right, Rick, about stating that it is like giving away the controls of our life to others! Why should we let others’ behaviours, comments, actions dictate our moods, when we have been blessed with the power to create wonderful lives for ourselves through our own thought processes.
Life is too short to be wasted on negativity of any sort! Every day is like a new canvas—for us to paint on!So let’s use the palette carefully, yet playfully! Experiment with all the colours of the rainbow to ensure that our ‘painting’ of the day is bright and positive!
