Your Daily Focus: Joy

11.22.2010 · Posted in Quotes / Daily Focus

The greatest gift you can give anyone is your joy.

You can’t bring wealth to someone by joining them in poverty.

You can’t bring wellness to someone by joining them in illness.

So think about it…

You can’t bring happiness to someone by joining them in sadness.

We have been taught compassion and empathy, and it sounds

great in theory, but be careful.

The key is to hold onto your joy, be a model to others in your joy,

and share your joy.  Don’t let them pull you into their depression or

despair, or that is all you will have to give them.

Hold on to your joy, so you have it to share with others.

  1. Dr Rick,

These words are so true! Not only does it align with the Law of Attraction, there is real science behind the fact that “Happiness is Contagious”. We all have the capability of increasing someone else’s level of happiness simply by sharing our joy – Here’s a link to one study:

Thanks for sharing your JOY! Blissings to you!

  2. Thanks Teri, I love this article. Happy friends MAKE you happy.
Here’s my favorite part: happy friends of happy friends of happy friends MAKE you happy as well.
That is really cool… a happiness epidemic!

  3. This is such a great piece of advice Rick! There’s enough misery and depression around, and our feeling sorry for what’s happening around us will only add to the sadness.
Let’s resolve to be happy–happy to be alive, happy to be healthy, and to have so many blessings! It’s all about TODAY! Make it count. Today is never coming back—in all eternity! So–yes—make it COUNT!
    Regards,

  4. Ambreen, this is a spectacular comment. You are so right. The idea of sharing joy and happiness extends not just to the person you are with, but to the whole planet. It’s a great inspiration to turn off the TV when the evening news comes on and they show all the negative things going on in the world. Let’s stay in our joy and give the world a greater gift!
    Thanks!

  5. This is so, so right! Yes! Wahoo! I am so happy and grateful surrounded by such joy! I am holding the image that my emotions are deposited into the atmosphere and cause the emotions of others. Your comments prove you feel my joy! This brings deeper meaning to the question: “Do ya feel me?
Look at the word “joy” backwards and we get “ yoj” (yu -ja) it does not mean anything but, it is so much fun to say and even funnier to hear. That makes is good.
    Hold your image! And go“Yoj!”

  6. Hi Rick, I hope your father comes out of hospital soon. I enjoy your blog posts a lot – thanks for taking the time.

  7. Sending you and your father joy, health and peace!

  8. Great reminder. You and your father are in my prayers.

    Kevin

  9. Prayers and best wishes to all of you Rick.

  10. Blessings upon you and your father as you make your way together. We may not be able to change the circumstances; our greatest gift is to be our best with another. Just be. As you are companion to your father, your strengths, your love, your caring are the best ‘medicine’ ever. Again, may all the good, the love, and joy you share with the world return to you sevenfold.
