Your Daily Focus: Envisioning

“Treat yourself as if you already are what you’d like yourself to be” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

Envisioning yourself as already being what you would like to become is a very powerful tool to use in creating yourself and your world as you would like them to be. Dr. Dyer speaks about this concept in the eighth chapter of his book 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace.

This is a concept that I have personally applied countless times over the years and have found to be very, very effective. One of the fun things about it is that our minds, in their insistence on bringing us “the facts,” like to refute the information that we’re giving them through our envisioning. They like to say things like “oh THAT’S not true!” or, “are you KIDDING me?” or “liar!” or “now how is THAT going to happen?” Does any of this sound familiar to you?

I usually burst out laughing now whenever my mind brings a message of doubt to me, because I am amused that it never gives up, and that it is never right about the doubt! Whether I’ve taken on a challenge to transform a personality trait that doesn’t serve the way I see myself, or a challenge to create something I’ve never before created, I have always succeeded, over time. Always! The reason I’ve succeeded is because I have used this principle of envisioning as I was going along in the creating. I never let go of the feeling of already having the result that I wanted.

The details of my creations have been flexible, which is also important. By allowing synchronicities to assist me, and inner guidance to direct me, outcomes have been even more delightful and fulfilling than I imagined! For instance, when I was writing my book Extreme Thought Makeover…37 Days to Maximum Life!, for a while it seemed like there was going to be 33 days. But it became clear that it wasn’t to be, as more ideas flowed to me and the number kept rising. It was an affirmation of the wisdom in simply letting it flow and seeing the perfect outcome when it was finished.

The same is true of the knee clinic I’ve created. The perfect people have matched up with me, starting with the location, the creative people and the construction people, the finished physical space, and concluding with the staff and the flow of patients coming in. Perfection has occurred every step of the way!

The process never ends, thank goodness. It’s a lot of fun imagining myself as a creator, the best boss in the world, the best dad, best friend and best boyfriend in the world, and imagining cool things, lots of fun, win-win-win situations, happy smiling people, and anything else I choose.

I just keep believing it, and then seeing it!

  1. Hi Rick, I found your post today very inspiring. It’s great to know that the seemingly hardest, biggest things you can imagine for yourself can be manifested so easily.

  2. Great piece of writing Rick! Truly motivating, and so very true! As they say, ‘Everything is an inside job’! So we always have a choice to be and to get what we want through thinking the right thoughts and visualising the results we want. And it’s fun too!
Besides, what is the point in imagining negative outcomes and making ourselves miserable. We just need to make sure that we choose our thoughts wisely TODAY–TOMORROW will automatically be taken care of!
