Your Daily Focus: Cherishing
Yesterday, I wrote about being in a place of judgment and disguising it by saying things like ‘not to be judgmental, but…’. It was fun to recall outlandish instances of that in movies that make me laugh.
Laughing is a great starting point to making inner changes, mainly so that we don’t come down hard on ourselves. The thing about being judgmental of others is that it mostly comes from being judgmental of our own selves and once we own up to that, well, you can guess what happens. We then become judgmental of ourselves for being judgmental!
So let’s be easy about all this and choose a starting place that feels really good, like ‘where you are is just fine’. Okay, so over our lives we’ve been shown by those around us how to blame and judge, and we’ve done a stellar job in learning that lesson. Well done! Now, we are ready to change that because … it feels bad to blame and judge!! What a great reason to stop doing it!
The first step is to stop blaming and judging the person we do it to the most: ourselves!
How do we do that? By using acceptance. Acceptance means that even though there is probably a long list of things in your head that you could judge to be imperfect, you are still perfect exactly as you are. No ‘buts’ allowed! The “imperfections” are what make this human experience so wonderful, what make each of us unique and adorable. Everything that has come before this moment was exactly as it needed to be, and everything from this moment on will be as it needs to be.
It’s important to simply flow into the feeling of that, and not over think it. Just feel the feeling of it washing through you. It’s a great calm and peaceful feeling, and leads to an awareness of cherishing your self.
Take a few minutes today to focus on this. Do it several times a day over the next few days and notice the changes that you experience. Notice how the feeling goes a bit deeper each time you do it, and how much better you feel about yourself. You’re on a path that is leading you to more and more lightness in yourself and in your life…get ready for it!!
Mmmm, I’m going to go now and think about how perfect I am exactly as I am…
You my friend are awesome!
