Your Daily Focus: Celebration

12.02.2010 · Posted in Quotes / Daily Focus

Instead of looking at the big things that are going wrong, look at the little things that are going right.

It is truly amazing, if you choose to focus on it, what is right in the world.  Your heart is beating perfectly, supplying blood flow which contains oxygen perfectly bound to hemoglobin, perfectly reaching each and every cell in your body. And that cell knows perfectly what to do to transport that oxygen inside, and feed over one hundred thousand chemical reactions perfectly each second, and every protein in perfectly synthesized in perfect balance with that cell’s needs, and every molecule within that protein is made perfectly of the right mix of atoms, and within each atom the electrons are spinning perfectly around the nucleus.

What do you consciously do to make this infinite amount of activity work perfectly and in balance?  Nothing! Absolutely nothing. Even in the absence of a conscious breath, your body perfectly exchanges air with the outside world. That process is called respiration, made up of expiration and inspiration. Mmmmmmm, inspiration… sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

Perhaps these little things that are going right are actually the big things, and all the rest is the small stuff. Perhaps who likes who, who has what, and who has how much money are the little things, and the miracles of human life on this planet are really the big things.

So, instead of looking at the little things going wrong, look at all the big things going right… perfectly right!  Let’s all celebrate this together.

  1. Neat Rick. Thanks.

  2. Great lesson. This is a challenging topic, especially when it seems like there are “fires” to be put out left and right. In the midst of the “fires” you can see something good if you look close enough. Thanks for the perspective and reminder.

  3. This came at the perfect time :)

    Thank you,
    Suzanne

  4. Rick,
You are wonderful. Thank you for the Daily Focus emails. What a great way to keep us on track and our thoughts in the right place! You are an inspiration!
    Thanks,

  5. I like the twist in this Daily Focus…what an inspiring thought to live by. And yes, our bodies innate cellular activity is amazing. In fact, I was recently at a discussion group that talked about cell level healing. We learned simple cell basics and how to use this knowledge to enhance our healing, “bridging conventional cell biology with spiritual health.”
Your Daily Focus emails are catchy and helpful, thanks Dr. Rick!

  6. Excellent reminder Rick.

Lots of times we get so hung up on the little, and overall insignificant things that we lose focus of the wonderful, important things that are right under our noses.

Instead of “not knowing what you’ve got till it’s gone,” choose to be thankful and appreciative every day for all the ways you’ve been blessed in life.

  7. When I first read your message, the strongest feeling that came up for me was RELIEF, because you are so right on about what the big things are AND I don’t have to DO anything to make the big things happen! I love that reminder! It makes me feel like anything else I do is simply play time; and I can sure remember to have a daily celebration for all of the perfection that’s continually going on inside my body. Everything else is cake.
