“I Feel Very Bad to Be Alone” Ask Doctor Rick Column on Conquering Loneliness

Dear Dr. Rick,  I am 35 years old lady alone in Dubai.  I feel very bad to be alone.  I want to overcome this fear but I don’t know how.           from Venus in Dubai

Hi Venus,     This is such a great question to ask because we all feel loneliness at times.

I believe the key is to understand that “what you think about expands.”  In other words, the more you think about something the more it fills your life.  This is how the Universal Law of Attraction works.  When your awareness is on being lonely, you will attract more lonely experiences.  The key is to focus on the other aspects of your life.

For instance, say things to yourself like, “I really love interacting with all the people I may meet in a day, the postman, the grocery store clerk, even a phone caller with the wrong number.  Focus on social interaction with anyone you can.   Then fill your mind with those experiences and those memories.  How about, “I love finding amazing people to chat with on internet discussion boards.”  “I feel great intimacy so quickly with so many people.  “I love that about me, that I am a real people person and I adore every relationship that I have!”

You will find that you will be less and less lonely as you fill your thoughts with these messages and memories.   And more and more people will enter your life that love to interact and build relationships.  Good luck.  Oh, and enjoy the journey!  This is the most remarkable and memorable time.

                                                            Enjoy, Rick
